Glenwood Park is a family managed ostrich farm, which is located in the pristine countryside of Gippsland, Victoria, Australia.
Our farm is situated 15 kilometers from Longford and comprises of 230 acres of fertile sandy loam country. We have been farming for 20 years of which the last 5 years have been dedicated to ostriches. Our ostrich facilities have a continual water supply via our bore thus providing fresh green pasture all year round regardless of weather conditions.
We provide an agistment service for those who would like to farm ostriches but are unable to, due to available space.
We are able to cater for Breeders, Juveniles and Chicks. A small charge is applicable for this service. The charge covers all feed (meatmeal free rations), housing and general management associated with the birds.
The only costs not covered under this charge are: - Veterinary services, incubation costs and transport costs.
The charges applicable for 1999/2000 season are set at: -
A$5.00-per chick (day old -4 months) per week.
A$7.50-per juvenile (4 months-10 months) per week.
A$8.75-per juvenile (10 months-12 months) per week.
A$10.00-per adult (12 months upwards) per week.
We provide free of charge the collection of eggs and their transportation to the incubation centre. We then collect and transport the progeny back to our farm at no cost.
The current charge at the incubation centre is- A$7.50 per egg into incubator and A$22.50 per live chick hatched.
We actively advertise and promote our ostriches and the associated products for sale on both the domestic and the international marketplace. This marketing is for the sale of live ostriches, fertile eggs, meat and hides.
We endeavor to market the ostriches as per the owner's instructions, and this is also free of charge. No commission is taken on any sales.
We offer for sale quality breeders, juveniles and chicks of varying ages. We have for sale Australian Blacks, F'1 Blacks, F'1 Blues, F'1 Reds and F'1Red/Blacks.
This season (1999/2000) we are able to offer day old chicks and fertile eggs for sale at very reasonable rates.
